Sidestreet Archive · Standalone media archiving

Keep the work.
Give it a plan.

Footage, photos, audio and project files add up. Tell us where yours are and how you’ll need them later. We’ll scope the ingest, organization, migration or retrieval work you need, then talk through storage options if you want ongoing help.

For production teams, agencies, businesses, churches and nonprofits.

( 01 — YOUR CHOICE )

One project
or ongoing help.

A one-time archive project

Get a practical plan for a library spread across drives, folders or cloud accounts. The work can include an inventory, organized folders, verified copying or a move to storage you own. We agree on the deliverables and handover before work begins. No ongoing subscription is required.

A tailored managed archive

If you want someone to look after the library, let’s discuss the right storage and retrieval approach. Your proposal will define the accepted files, storage locations, number of copies, retention period and who can request access.

( 02 — À LA CARTE )

Pick the work
you need.

Inventory and planning

Start with what you have. Review the source drives and accounts, estimate the library’s size, identify gaps and decide what belongs in the archive.

Ingest and verified copying

Scope the transfer to agreed destinations, with a file inventory, verification records and a report of any exceptions. Verification checks the transfer; it cannot repair damage that was already in a source file.

Organization and catalogs

Make the library easier to understand with a useful folder structure, naming plan and exportable index. Any renaming or duplicate removal is agreed before it happens.

Storage migration

Move an agreed library from old drives or cloud accounts to its next home. Plan the destination, transfer method and handover around the volume and condition of the files.

Retrieval and delivery

Need a particular project back? Identify the files, destination and deadline, then get an estimate for the work and any storage-provider charges.

Project packaging

Discuss consolidating an edit project, relinking available media or preparing files for the next editor. Software, plug-ins, missing assets and format requirements are part of the scope.

( 03 — STORAGE OPTIONS )

Storage that fits
how you use the library.

The right choice starts with how often you need files back. We can discuss warm, cold and deep storage options, or a combination for different parts of your library.

Warm access · Wasabi

For material you expect to revisit more often. A ready-access storage option for libraries where retrieval convenience matters.

Cold archive · Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval

For completed projects you expect to revisit occasionally. A lower-access approach where retrieval needs advance planning.

Deep archive · Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive

For long-term material you rarely expect to retrieve. A fit to discuss when lower ongoing storage cost matters more than quick access.

Your proposal will spell out the storage arrangement, copy count, access process, estimated retrieval timing and costs. Provider restore time, file size and the delivery connection all affect when files reach you.

( 04 — THE SCOPE )

Clear scope
from the start.

Every library is different. One-time work and ongoing storage are quoted after we understand yours.

We’ll separate the initial work, any recurring storage, retrieval and delivery charges, and optional organization or creative work. You’ll know what is included and what would need a separate estimate.

Your files remain yours. The proposal will also cover how the archive and its records can be handed back or moved elsewhere.

( 05 — HOW TO START )

Start with
what you have.

Tell us what you have

A rough size, where the files live and what you want to do with them is enough to start. “I’m not sure” is a useful answer too.

Agree on the work

We’ll discuss your priorities, the condition of the source material and the deliverables. Storage and retrieval expectations belong in the written scope.

Choose the next step

That might be a one-time handover, a migration, help locating an old project or a tailored plan for ongoing storage.

( 06 — GOOD TO KNOW )

Questions about
your archive.

Can you work with files another production company made?

Yes, we can discuss outside libraries. You’ll need the rights and permission to copy and store the material. We’ll review the file types, condition and scope before accepting it.

Do I need an ongoing storage plan?

No. You can arrange a one-time inventory, organization, ingest, migration or retrieval project. Ongoing storage is a separate choice.

Can the archive stay on storage we own?

Yes. A one-time project can be scoped around your drives or cloud accounts. We’ll agree on the destinations, required access and who looks after the files after handover.

Is this the same as the archive for my Sidestreet production work?

Sidestreet already archives its client work for at least a year. Sidestreet Archive is for standalone libraries and separately requested archive services. Your existing project agreement continues to apply.

How quickly can I get files back?

It depends on the storage tier, the amount of material and where it needs to go. Cold and deep storage require a restore step. We’ll give you a project-specific estimate before a retrieval; urgent deadlines need to be discussed in advance.

How much does it cost?

We quote the actual work and library. The estimate can include initial ingest, organization, storage, retrieval and delivery, with any hardware, shipping or provider charges identified separately.

Can I move the library elsewhere later?

The proposal will include a handover or export process, the records you’ll receive and any handling, transfer or provider charges. We’ll discuss those terms before you commit.

Can you recover a failing drive or convert old tapes?

Tell us what you have before sending it. Damaged media and special formats need a separate assessment and may need a specialist. Recovery cannot be guaranteed.

( 07 — LET’S TALK )

What’s in
your archive?

A few finished projects, years of footage or a library you’ve inherited. Tell us what you have and what you need from it.

Discuss your archive

Bring a rough idea of the size, source drives or accounts, how often you need files and any deadline. Please describe the library first; don’t send files or sensitive material until an intake method is agreed.
